Why here

A dedicated program — not an afterthought

Treat the cause, not the symptom

Burning, grittiness, blur — even watery eyes — are symptoms. Drugstore drops mask them. Our exam finds what's actually causing yours.

A doctor who focuses on it

Dr. Dingman leads a named dry eye program inside a 50-year practice — most offices treat dry eye in passing.

Covered as a medical visit

Dry eye is a medical condition. We accept Medicare and most major plans, and staff verify your coverage when you call.

What to expect

How we get you lasting relief

  1. Your evaluation

We examine your eyes, eyelids, and tear film to understand what's driving your symptoms.

  2. Find the cause

Reduced tear production, poor tear quality, eyelid disease, screen habits, medications — the treatment only works if it matches the cause.

  3. A targeted plan

Prescription drops, punctal plugs, eyelid treatment, or specialty lenses — matched to your exam findings, escalating only as needed.

  4. Follow-up until it lasts

We schedule follow-up visits when needed to make sure your relief holds — not just for a week, but for good.

Common questions

Dry eye questions, answered

What dry eye treatments do you offer?

Our dry eye program, led by Dr. Dingman, includes prescription drops, punctal plugs, eyelid treatment, and specialty lenses. After examining your eyes and tear film, your doctor builds a plan around what's actually causing your symptoms — not just a stronger version of the drops you've already tried.

When should I see a doctor about dry eye?

If your eyes burn, feel gritty, water excessively, or blur during reading and screen time — and over-the-counter drops aren't giving lasting relief — it's time for an evaluation. Chronic dry eye rarely improves on its own. Call (315) 422-4412 to schedule at our Syracuse or Fulton office.

Is a dry eye evaluation covered by insurance?

Dry eye is a medical condition, and we accept Medicare, Excellus BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, MVP, Fidelis, Wellcare, and AARP plans. Our staff will verify your specific coverage when you call, so you'll know what to expect before your visit.

What are punctal plugs?

Punctal plugs are tiny inserts placed in the tear ducts to slow tear drainage, keeping your own natural tears on the eye's surface longer. Placement is done in our office. Whether plugs, prescription drops, lid treatment, or specialty lenses fit your case is determined at your evaluation.

Get relief that lasts.

Stop cycling through drugstore drops. One evaluation finds the cause.
