Am I a candidate?

Laser vision correction is performed to improve vision safely and precisely by reshaping the cornea to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. Some factors may exclude certain patients — including the severity of your refractive error, central corneal thickness, and certain ocular or medical conditions. Our personalized evaluation helps identify appropriate candidates.

How does PRK work?

PRK (photorefractive keratectomy / surface ablation) gently removes the thin tissue layer on top of the cornea, then applies the laser to the exposed surface to reshape it — allowing light to focus properly on the retina. PRK has decades of proven results and is often the safer choice for patients with thinner corneas, dry eyes, or active lifestyles, because no corneal flap is created.

What are the risks?

Laser surgery has proven to be a safe procedure, but like all eye surgeries, there are risks — including glare and haloes, infection, inflammation, and a weakening of the corneal structure. In rare cases, this can result in permanent vision problems. Appropriate preoperative care is essential to reducing these risks.
